Verily Life Sciences is seeking volunteers to participate in a clinical research study evaluating the form, fit, and function of an investigational contact lens. The investigational contact lens uses a material similar to those used in many commercially available contact lenses. The study lens may also include electronic components that are fully embedded and will not directly contact your eye. Study volunteers will be asked to attend a Screening Visit that includes an eye exam to make sure that they qualify for the study. Subjects that are eligible may be asked to return for a Study Session that will consist of an eye exam and testing the investigational contact lens. These Study Visits may last from 1 hour to 8 hours depending on the Study Session and will take place in South San Francisco. Please inquire on detailed study agenda.
Additional criteria will be evaluated at the study visit but volunteers must have/be:
-Between the ages of 18 and 70 years of age
-Able to read and speak English
-Contact lens wearing experience
Additional criteria will be evaluated at the study visit but volunteers must not have/be:
-Pregnant or breastfeeding
-Eye injury within twelve weeks immediately prior to study visit
-Any use of systemic or ocular medications for which contact lens wear could be contraindicated as determined by the Investigator
-History of herpetic keratitis
-History of refractive surgery or irregular cornea
-A clinically significant dry eye determined by the Investigator
Self-reported allergy to silicone
-History of motor dystrophy of the eye
-History of paralysis of the eye
-History of facial paralysis
-History of lid surgery
-History of multifocal or monovision intraocular lens replacement surgery
-Participation of the subject in a clinical contact lens study (including contact lens or contact lens care product) within the previous 30 days
Eligible subjects may be compensated up to $150 for the screening exam and up to $250 per study session. Participation in the study is entirely voluntary.
